September 2014 Update

24/9/2014

We have enjoyed 50mls of rain in the last week, so everything is looking very green.  September can be our driest month so we really appreciated the rainfall so early in Spring.  We have been very busy with guests from as far south as Port Macquarie. Graham and I recently went on an outing with Birdlife Mackay to Lake Barfield only 5 minutes from here. The final count was 85 birds species.  We had a fabulous day and learnt so much about the natural environment.

We have been very busy in the last few weeks.  Graham and I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting a variety of guests.  We welcome guests to leave feedback on our site so that we can further improve our service.

Waiting for the summer rains

September/October for the sub-tropical gardener represents a time of waiting - waiting for the rains to come.  The first storm of the season is an exhilarating experience and overnight turns brown, crunchy lawns into expanses of green.  I can't wait to hear the thunder in the distance and the rain on the roof.

My partner Graham and I moved to this property around Christmas 2008.  We have thoroughly enjoyed the country lifestyle.  We look forward to meeting our guests and offer friendly country hospitality.
